I make sure to visit Heart every time im down in Portland. This place is fantastic.

With this great admiration comes high expectations. I ordered a "shot and a beer" (Espresso & a brew) I'll be reviewing the espresso.

Colombia Los Pijaos de Tolima
 - Presents very well. nice deep red color.
 - Very aromatic.
 - Bright, sweet and juicy yet lacked balance.

Upon being served my espresso, I was advised that the coffee was only three days out of the Probat and that It was not going to shine as well as it will in another ten days. This was a little disappointing.

With a few notable exceptions, Baristas in Portland are schooling Seattle baristas. Particularly when it comes to their customer service skills. They have figured out how to be engaging, efficient, proficient and personable. 

The atmosphere is amazing. I mean, look at it!

I feel like in in a coffee lab that also shares its space with a design studio. Great natural light and an airy feel when they open up the front wall in the summer. Situating the roaster in the middle of the cafe engages the customers interest to learn more about the coffees journey from seed to cup.
