Polynom says:01-March-2012 CLIFFS NOTES VERSION: I ordered an: ESPRESSO It was: REALLY GOOD ----- SPECS: Handsome, 25g @ 25sec (yeah, that's what he said) through a 3-group Linea EE. Pretty little bright white off-brand ceramics, spoonage. Also, they're working with great water. I dunno what they're starting with, or what kind of filtration they're using, but the result is beautiful and it shows in the espresso. NOTES: Beautiful flecking. 1-3/4 oz total volume. SUPER buttery and SUPER balanced. Well-rounded, complex middle with good definition. Pleasant short finish. Subdued red currants, mild cinnamon throughout, almonds, subtly ... minty. Really. It was a lot like a good tempranillo. All this, and it just got better as it cooled. Appearance: Soooo pretty. Finish: Perfect Acidity: Not sparkly, not murky, just really well defined. Flavors: Really complex, really enjoyable. I also ordered an americano, and it was delish as well. COMMENTS: I don't think I've ever had espresso quite like this before, and I suspect it has a lot to do with the water they're using. I wrote in my notes, "This ain't Seattle espresso, boys." They start with pretty standard beans and equipment, but the result is surprisingly buttery, complex, and subtle. And that mint flavor? Weird, but wowza. I'm giving it a solid 4/6. I'd drink this stuff all day. |
