Wandered over to Ballard again and stopped into the newly opened Ballard Coffee Works (BCW). The design echoes much of the interior of BCW's sister store, Seattle Coffee Works (SCW), with light wood and lots of natural lighting. Besides the similarities to SCW, BCW felt a bit too eclectic. Baristas were kind and excited about the successful opening.

Anyways, onto the espresso.

I'm not sure if I was served Bali or Brasil. The barista at the register said the former, the barista on bar said the latter. I'm thinking it was Brasil... Regardless, total volume was about 1.5 oz.

Vis: Very good. Uniform brown, faint flecking, no blonding. The dark ring seen in the photo is from how long it took me to get a picture taken.. the lighting was kicking my ass in there.
C/P Average plus. Some bubbling, crema broke.
Tact: Good. Pleasant mouthfeel on the outset, smooth fading to slightly gritty, medium body.
Taste: Good. Initially very bright, lemon tartness, hints of rosemary and cardamom, giving way to a woody, slightly muddled body, and rounding out with a mildly bitter finish. Relatively balanced taste until the end.

With some more time and work, I'm very hopeful that Ballard Coffee Works will continue to fine-tune things, iron out some of the kinks, and meet success in their new Ballard venture. Congrats guys!
